A Miniature Feast: Celebrating the Art of Kat Lieu
I am beyond honored and deeply inspired to celebrate the brilliant, boundary-pushing creative mind of Kat Lieu in honor of her breathtaking new cookbook, 108 Asian Cookies. Kat has a singular gift for blending heritage, flavor, and modern aesthetics into her baking, and to commemorate her latest release, we decided to challenge the very limits of what can be achieved in the world of nail technology. We didn't just want to paint a tribute; we wanted to miniaturize the entire sensory experience of her kitchen. By shrinking her most iconic recipes into a hyper-realistic, wearable tasting menu, we’ve created a set that stands at the intersection of culinary art and high-fashion engineering. This collection is a masterclass in microscopic texture, vibrant color theory, and the art of culinary storytelling—proving that a masterpiece can be just as impactful at the size of a fingertip as it is on a gallery wall.
The Menu: Recipes in Miniature

Each nail in this set is a 3D sculpted tribute to a specific recipe from the book. We focused on capturing the unique textures, glazes, and garnishes that make Kat’s baking so iconic.
-
Ube Linzer Cookies & Lychee Frosted Sugar Cookies: Featuring soft purples and delicate pink "frosting" with realistic jam centers.
-
Amaretti Cookies with Pandan & Pistachios: A textured, crinkled surface dusted with "powdered sugar" and topped with a tiny sculpted nut.
- Middle Eastern Shortbread: Elegantly simple with a central floral garnish.
-
Butterfly Pea Flower Madeleines: Sculpted with the signature shell ridges and accented with gold leaf.
-
White Rabbit Sugar Cookies: A nostalgic nod featuring the classic White Rabbit candy aesthetic.
-
Third Culture Whoopie Pies: Heart-shaped chocolate shells with a vibrant purple ube filling.
-
Pineapple Bun Cookies & Tarts: Capturing the classic "cracked" golden crust of the iconic bun and the intricate lattice of the tart.
-
Indonesian Snow White Cookies: Perfectly round and "powdered" to look like they just came out of the oven.
The Transformation: From Oven to Atelier
To achieve this level of hyper-realism, we moved beyond standard painting and into 3D Sculpture Artistry. We used various gels to build the physical height of the cookies, then utilized specialized tools to etch in "crumb" textures and "bake" lines.
Watching the set come together was like watching a bakery window fill up. The contrast between the matte "cookie" bases and the high-gloss "jams" and "glazes" creates a tactile experience that makes you want to reach out and take a bite.
A Sweet Celebration
Kat Lieu’s work is a celebration of heritage and flavor, and we hope this set does justice to the artistry found within the pages of 108 Asian Cookies. Whether you are a fan of her recipes or just a lover of miniature art, this set proves that inspiration truly has no limits.
