Inspired by the legendary glass mosaics of the Cathedral of Monreale and the iconic, gem-encrusted runways of Dolce & Gabbana, this set was a masterclass in hand-painted precision. The goal was to capture a "Medieval Rules" aesthetic, translating the grandeur of a cathedral wall onto the delicate surface of a nail without losing an ounce of that regal weight.
Bringing this set to life required a level of patience that mirrors the work of ancient artisans. In our progress videos, you can see the meticulous nature of the portrait work; each tiny "tessera," or mosaic tile, is individually painted to create the depth and shadow required for a realistic face. We utilized a palette of ochre, cream, and deep blue to mimic the look of aged, weathered glass found in historical iconographic imagery.
