Cathedral elegance meets sacred devotion. For this custom 10-piece commission, titled "Virgin Mary Stained Glass," we translated the radiant, light-filtering art of church windows into wearable high art. The design pairs translucent stained-glass leadwork with jewel-encrusted crimson velvet bases.

The Consultation: Crimson Velvet & Cathedral Leadwork

The layout relies on a bold contrast between opaque, jewel-toned bases and translucent glass centerpieces. We selected a Long Coffin shape to provide the extended vertical canvas needed for cathedral window arches.

• The Sacred Palette: A rich color story featuring deep ruby red shimmer, vibrant marigold yellows, turquoise blue, and soft rose pinks.

• Crucifix Gem Framework: The outer ruby-red nails are adorned with oversized gold, amber, and deep red gem clusters arranged into traditional cross shapes.

The Craft: Translucent Jelly Layers & Micro-Line Lead Work

Recreating the physical appearance of stained glass catching sunlight required clear jelly gel building and sharp black linework.

• The Virgin Mary Glass Panel: The central nail displays a detailed portrait of the Virgin Mary, framed in glowing yellow sun rays and wrapped in a translucent turquoise mantle.

• The Stained Glass Roses: The adjacent center nail features hand-painted red and white stained-glass roses, separated by thick black gel leadwork that mimics real iron window framing.

• Gilded Cross Embellishments: Highlighting the religious theme, the surrounding nails are encrusted with large marquise crystals, round gold studs, and fiery red micro-rhinestones.

• High-Gloss Glass Finish: The stained-glass panels are sealed under an ultra-thick, glossy topcoat, allowing light to shine straight through the jelly pigments.
